The Spiritual Battle - 64 What Does The Bible Say About Homosexuality?

“9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, KJV).
Loved ones, in our Spiritual Battle Satan has many deceived humans who are leading the blind astray. Homosexuality is an unnatural relation between two people of the same sex. In the beginning God created them “male and female” (Genesis 1:27; 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6). He did not make male and male or female and female. When God said that homosexuality is “that which is against nature” (Romans 1:26-27), we know that God did not “make people this way!” There is absolutely no biblical or medical evidence to prove that one is “born a homosexual.” Like any other vice, it is an acquired practice (1 John 3:4).
To say, as some have said, “that being children of God is not based on race, class, sex, or even sexual preference,” is absurd in view of the Scriptures. Man has nothing to do with his race, class, or sex, but he is responsible for his pervert behavior. Encouraging repentance also makes it clear that folks are not born as homosexuals. One doesn’t repent of genetic markers like eye color, hair color, height, or gender. One repents of sin (Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 2:38, 17:30; 2 Pet. 3:9; etc.)! Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for this and other sins (Genesis 13:13; 18:20; 19:4-9, 24).
God has much to say concerning this so-called “lifestyle choice.” ”Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22). Also, the Law of Moses prescribed a death penalty for this abominable act (Leviticus 20:13). Does this sound like God approved of these people’s “choices? Asa, Jehoshaphat, and Josiah, all good kings of Judah, were praised for driving the sodomites out of the land (1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7).
In the New Testament homosexuality is a distinguishing mark of the deep depravity of the Gentiles who refused to acknowledge God: “24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient” (Romans 1:24-28).
The Apostle Paul declared, “9 The law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for men stealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine” (1 Timothy 1:9-10).
In our text, Paul said that homosexuality was a sin that would keep one from Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). He said these things belong in the realm of the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). This is not to say that a person who is a homosexual cannot be saved. Homosexuality, like any other sin, can be forgiven if the sinner will repent and turn away from it (Acts 17:30). Like any other sin it will cause one to lose his soul if not repented of and forgiven. Clearly, the Corinthians had some who were homosexuals, but they repented, obeyed the word of God, and were saved (1 Corinthians 6:11). This can still happen today.
No one can please God while he continues to live a wicked life (Romans 6:1-23; 1 John 3:3-10). We see people who do not want to live up to their responsibilities, nor accept the consequences of their ungodly living. So, they claim that those who teach God’s truth are homophobes or bigots who do not love them. What they need to realize is that the people who genuinely love them are the ones who remind them of their responsibilities toward God and warn them of the eternal consequences if they do not change (Proverbs 27:6, 17:17; Job 5:17-18; Revelation 3:19)!
The God of Heaven and Earth is so good, and His love reaches all. Through the free gift of God’s grace by Jesus’ blood (Ephesians 2:8; Revelation 1:5) and your obedient faith (Romans 1:5; 10:17; 16:26), salvation is offered.
